An itinerary of the most fascinating things to do in Danang is not complete without adding a visit to My Son Sanctuary in the Duy Xuyen district of Quang Nam province. Dating back as early as the 4 th century, this fascinating complex is home to impressive Hindu temple ruins and remnants of the once thriving Champa kingdom. The Valley of the Kings was used for religious ceremonies and as the burial location for Champa royalty; it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 due to its importance in preserving the rich culture of Vietnam.
Along with history and architecture, tradition comes to life at My Son Sanctuary in the form of live Apsara dance performances. Marvel at the careful choreography before heading to the next part of your Valley of the Kings adventure – a boat ride down the sacred Thu Bon river. Dive into a bowl of
mi quang Vietnamese noodles and wave goodbye to My Son Sanctuary as you find yourself mesmerized by the verdant landscapes surrounding the former Champa kingdom.
A trip down the Thu Bon river gives you an even deeper appreciation for the Vietnamese way of life on the water. Float past local communities like Duy Hai fishing village and Cam Thanh village, stopping to learn the art of woodworking at Kim Bong Carpentry Village. The Danang to My Son Sanctuary tour comes to an end near Nguyen Hoang dock and Cua Dai bridge, one of the most famous things to do in Hoi An, where guests will be transferred back to their hotels.
