This one-day tour of Tam Coc and Hoa Lu is the perfect way to experience Vietnam, especially if it’s your first time here. Leaving Hanoi early in the morning, the tour heads first to Hoa Lu, in the Ninh Binh province. This ancient city used to be the capital of Vietnam back in the Dinh Dynasty, and features the temple remnants and palaces of the royal families from 10th-century Vietnam. After you finish exploring, the next stop is Tam Coc, which means ‘three caves.’ Tam Coc is a place of tranquillity and peace, surrounded by rice paddies and beautiful natural landscapes. Here, you'll hop aboard sampan boats and cruise down the Ngo Dong River. You'll be able to marvel at the karst formations in the rocks and row into the many caves that have been carved into the limestone cliffs. Here, you have the opportunity to take some amazing photos. A couple of kilometres north of Tam Coc lies Bich Dong, and this is the final stop on the tour. But you won't get there by boat—this part of the tour is done by bicycle, so make sure you bring some comfy shoes.Cycling gives you the chance to see more of the amazing scenery, such as villages, rice fields, and rocky outcrops. Once you arrive at Bich Dong you're treated to even more incredible sights.Bich Dong is a historic relic of the Ninh Binh province. It’s become a popular tourist attraction due to the incredible Oriental architecture of the pagodas, a gorgeous group of cave temples, set against the backdrop of rugged mountain ranges and Vietnam’s picturesque countryside.
