In addition, you will visit the Jogyesa Buddhist Temple in the heart of Seoul, witness the changing of the Royal Guards at Gyeongbokgung Palace, and pass by Cheong Wa Dae (also known as the Blue House).After being picked up from your hotel in the morning, your first stop will be Jogyesa Buddhist Temple. Nestled in the heart of Seoul, the Jogyesa Temple quietly blends in with the its modern surroundings. Admire the lovely locust and baeksang trees lining the entrance and enter the main temple dating back 500 years. Inside, you'll discover a sculpture depicting the enlightenment of Buddha. The next stop is Gyeongbokgung Palace. Here, you can marvel at the grandeur of the newly restored sections. The remarkable Gyeonghoeru and Hyangwonjeong pavilions will amaze you. You can learn about the life of the royal family at Gyotaejeon (the Queen’s Quarters) and Geunjeongjeon (the King’s Living and Resting Area), with the help of your friendly guide. The National Folk Museum awaits within and you can browse the extensive artifacts to learn what life was like for Koreans in the ancient times, up until now. As you leave the Gyeongbokgung Palace complex, you will drive past the Chong Wa Dae (Blue House), the residence of the President of the Republic of Korea. This harmonious blend of traditional and modern elements was built over a royal Joseon Dynasty garden. Practitioners of feng shui, or geomancers, consider the Cheong Wa Dae especially auspicious for its placement between several mountains and the Han River. At midday, enjoy a tasty Korean lunch at a local restaurant before driving to the Korean Folk Village, where you will experience Korean history through watching traditional performances. The Korean Folk Village is a faithful reproduction of a typical old-style Korean village, allowing you to see what it was like in Korea in the past. Actors portraying various characters from the Joseon Dynasty perform throughout the village, offering a window to another time. And finally, you'll visit the Amethyst and Ginseng Center. Learn about Korea's signature gem and taste different ginseng products. Your senses will be delighted as you take in the rich flavours of Korea's most popular spice.
