Long tail boat trip takes an hour approximately from Chiangrai Pier to Baan Ruam Mitra Karen Hill TribesTours provide life jackets. Many boats have a cover for sun protection. Some people do find them a bit noisy so customers might bring earplugs in case.To board the boat you will have to climb over the side. The sides are lowest at the middle but that will mean wading out a bit further. Some boats have small ladders that can be hung over the side. Passengers can help each other by weighing down one side of the boat so others can clamber aboard more easily.

You will depart from your hotel in Chiang Rai to the Chiang Rai boat pier, where your guide will start by taking you on a long-tail boat ride. You'll glide across the water for an hour, enjoying the river scenery, before you arrive to Baan Ruan Mitra, a Karen hill tribe. Learn about this old Thai village and their fascinating lifestyles as you explore its traditional houses. Here, you will also have the chance to go on an elephant trek through the lush jungles. It is an entirely wild, thrilling experience to see nature from the back of such an incredible beast. After the trek, you'll board the boat once up and return to Chiang Rai town, where you will be driven in the traditional three-wheeled trishaw. The open air vehicle gives you an unsullied view of the town. The first stop is Wat Phra Kaew, where the stunning Emerald Buddha resides. Then, you'll have the chance to enjoy some casual shopping and snacking.
