Explore Rattanakosin Island on foot - See Mahakan Fort and the Golden Mount of Bangkok

Stroll back in time on a walk through Bangkok's bygone charms. The Old Bangkok Quarter Walk tour is an exploration of old Bangkok and the ancient treasures hidden in the heart of one of the world's most modern cities. Climb the Bangkok Golden Mount, a 318-step ascent to a gold-tipped temple overlooking Rattanakosin Island and a sea of rooftops. Reward yourself for conquering the summit by relaxing and taking in the unbelievable view. Old practises are still very much alive in Baan Bat, or “Monk Bowl Village.” Here, you can observe the holy men hammer out bowls of raw iron by hand, a tradition lost and forgotten everywhere but here. The monks have deep respect for this ancient craft, a respect that you share when watching them in action. Continuing in this exploration of old Bangkok, your guide will take you to Mahakan Fort, the Living Heritage Museum. More than 100 years old, the Mahakan Fort is one of two surviving citadels that used to guard the walled cities. The wooden houses stand as reminders of a time long passed.
